New method invented in Bangladesh to detect formalin in fish
Bangladeshi scientists have recently invented a new method to
detect formalin in fish within 30 seconds, local newspaper The Independent
reported Friday. The new "Formalin Detection Kit" is easier and
faster than the previous methods. Under the method, fish should be washed by
water first and then the water should be examined with the formalin detection
kit.
If the water shows red color within 30 seconds, then it
can be confirmed that the fish has been preserved with formalin. The new kit
would be released in the market soon for the people to detect formalin in fish
by themselves.
Formalin is a chemical which can make people sick after
taking it. Some fish vendors usually use formalin to prevent fish from being
rotten.
